Packing for the Road: Caribbean Islands

A few months ago a woman on budgettravel.com revealed her travel beauty bag is actually an Altoids tin.  I am not that woman. That doesn't mean I regularly argue at the baggage counter over the necessity of a third lipstick,  but I do love a few options.

In short, mini makeup multitaskers make me sing. YSL Faux Cils mascara? Mini. Tarte Natural Cheek Stain? Mini.  Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch? Mini. Bobbi Brown Corrector? Normally mini anyway. I maintain a mountain of deluxe size samples reserved for the road.

A hefty swirl of the Real Techniques Buffing Brush melted Lancome Teint Miracle onto my features for nighttime ship soirĂ©es. On land I only used the clear Mally Poreless Face Defender  to stave off any visible sweat and shine from the Caribbean heat.  I jumped at the chance to use it on makeupless beach days because normally it detracts a bit of your foundation when you layer it on. Not cool.

A tip? Don't even think about packing a Naked palette, unless it's the Basics. For the eyes, this (mini!) NARS laguna cutie covered both my contours and my lids. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner's fine point requires little finesse for the perfect black flick, but also tightlines as good as its rope-walker counterpart. I also blended a bit of Bare Minerals READY eyeshadow in The Last Call when I wanted  my peepers to make a vibrant pop.

What beauty products do you like to carry with you on holiday? If you have a similar post please link it to me because I'm nosy :)

  3. Crazy as I'm out of the country too in a Caribbean type area. I was just about to post what I brought but haven't had time to edit it. I usually bring smudgeable eyeliners that act as both a shadow and liner. :)

    1. What a coincidence! The smudgeable eyeliner is an awesome idea. You should write the post, I love peeking at what other people pack :)

  6. Am packing for next week's trip. Though everything except the compact and eyeshadow palettes (note the plural) is in mini form, my make-up bag is crammed and the zip is almost busted. Will post mine by Tuesday before the trip and let you know - I keep adding "pore refiners" and "body polish" - why? Hopefully the bag will last at least until I leave.

    1. You're going on a trip? How exciting. I can relate to your situation...Most of the stuff I pack is travel sized yet uses a lot of room when packed together. I'll definitely take a look at that post! :)

  7. I love packing my makeup when i go traveling! I put my foundation— like those sephora sample tubs— in a little tub so I don't have to lug a big thing around.

    1. I love packing too! Using a Sephora sample tub is a brilliant idea, especially for carry-on restrictions :)
